Youngsters at St Monica’s Milton have donned their sunglasses to raise money for Malawi.
The pupil council decided to act on the plea from the Executive Director of education, Maureen McKenna, to host a charity event and did it with style!
The sunglasses theme was on the back of the school’s other fundraising project this term – to ask friends and families to donate their old reading glasses to people in Africa.
Head teacher, Anne McEnemy, says there was a serious message behind the fundraising and said: “The children wanted to help Malawi Leaders of Learning and the pupil council thought of the sunglasses theme. It means that they had fun but also learned the importance of protecting your eyes in sunlight.”
A cheque for £200 has been sent to the MLOL fund.
